This client had issues with rodents in their attic, we gladly removed the mess. The pre-existing blown in insulation was not only covered in rodent droppings and bacteria. The insulation had also settled over time, and was well below the R-value that we recommend for homeowners in Los Angeles.
First, the old insulation was vacuumed out completely with our industrial vacuum. All debris and junk that was too large for the vacuum was hand bagged and removed. Next, we decontaminated the attic with an atomizer mister. The decontaminating spray also removes any odors that existed as a result of rodent issues and years of neglect. Our technicians air leak sealed the attic space, as well as closed off any holes that rodents used with metal wire mesh. Finally, we insulated the approximately 1,250 sq ft attic with R-30, 16″ batts Owens Corning insulation.
